Awards Ceremony 2018
Hellenic Memorial Foundation Competition

Posted October 21st, 2018

We are proud to announce three of our students received a prize for the Hellenic Memorial Foundation.

The Hellenic Memorial Foundation in cooperation with the Greek Consul for Educational Affairs gives a unique opportunity for ALL students learning Greek at a language school in Victoria the chance to explore the Australian and Greek involvement in Greece during both World Wars.

Congratulations to our Year 9 student, Tiffany who received FIRST PRIZE after entering a handwritten letter. Tiffany wrote about how her grandad took place in the Second World War.

Sam from Year 9 and Christian from Grade 6 also received an Encouragement Award for their efforts. Congratulations to Sam and Christian for their efforts.

We are so proud of ALL our students who participated in the Hellenic Memorial Foundation Competition in 2018. To participate in a competition like this is something all students should be proud of their heritage as a Greek- Australian.

We believe in all of our students and it's wonderful receiving news such as this.

Keep it up guys! We support you always!

Mother's Day Presentation

Earlier this year students had presented either a poem or read a creative piece of what they had written about their mum.

This activity encourages all students to present and be confident when reading and speaking Greek to everyone involved at Alpha Greek School.

We strongly believe it brings all students, parents and teachers together to show how united we are as a community language school and also depicts the progress of each and every student throughout the year.

It's a wonderful opportunity for parents to get involved and see their child's progress, not just at the End of the Year Concert in December.

Cyprus History

In July, our students had the opportunity to present in front of their classmates and parents what they learnt in class about the history of Cyprus.

To this day, Cyprus is still the only country occupied. Greek- Cypriots are still forbidden to live in the top half of this beautiful tiny island.

This one hits a little close to home as some of our student's grandparents were part of the 1974 history, and we feel it's imperative our students understand our Greek - Cypriot culture and why we should stand up for our rights...

We hope one day there is "JUSTICE FOR CYPRUS".

25th of March

Every year our students get the opportunity to participate in the 25th of March - to commemorate our ancestors who fought for Independence in Greece and for us to be where we are today.

it's a wonderful experience for all our students and it shows young society that marching as one is what brings us all together.
